Repost from Mikey Kenny:
Liverpool friends. Ellen McGovern and I have lined up a tremendous night of music for you. Our next issue of The Choicey Club will bring the legendary American Appalachian-style fiddle, banjo and guitar player Bruce Molsky to Liverpool Irish Centre. This is a big deal - Bruce is one of my fiddle heroes. I hope that you will take me seriously when I say that you absolutely must not miss this!!! Move mountains to be there if you must!!
It doesn’t end there… we also have the utterly compelling Scottish songwriter Adam Beattie kicking off the proceedings. Adam is an international touring headline artist in his own right.
When Ellen and I sat down to create The Choicey Club, we decided that something Liverpool was missing is somebody bringing world class folk and traditional music to a more community-oriented setting where it originates… as opposed to high-brow concert halls etc. Our ethos is to place top-drawer musicians in settings where the community can buzz around it. For that reason we are also hosting an after-show céilí dance and would encourage as many people as we can to take to the floor. My own very carefully chosen Céilí band ‘Saltcutters’ will be performing for the dancing.
We will have a late bar on. I know it’s a Wednesday night but we’re all musician’s musicians and so I thought this would be good to have on a night when people are unlikely to be gigging…. So you’ve been warned - BOOK YOUR THURSDAY OFF WORK and stay until the end! There will be tunes aplenty!!
Let’s make this a night to remember!
Tickets £20 advance.
Please book in advance - it really helps us.
